Sports Physical FAQs

  • A sports physical exam is a comprehensive medical evaluation performed on individuals who are planning to participate in sports or other physically demanding activities. It is designed to assess the individual's overall health and determine if they are physically capable of participating in the activity.

  • A sports physical exam is necessary because it helps to identify any medical conditions or physical limitations that could put the individual at risk while participating in sports or other physically demanding activities.

  • It is recommended to get a sports physical exam at least once a year, especially before the start of a new sports season or before starting a new physical activity.

  • During a sports physical exam, a doctor will take a medical history, perform a physical exam, and may conduct various tests, such as a heart rate monitor or an EKG, to assess the individual's overall health.

  • Sports physicals aren’t covered insurance. We require a $50 payment at the time of service.

  • You should bring a list of any current medications you are taking, as well as any questions you have for the doctor. You may also want to bring a list of any health concerns or symptoms you have been experiencing.

  • Nope! Just stop by a clinic when we’re open and you’ll be seen within a few minutes.

  • A sports physical exam can detect some serious health problems, such as heart conditions, but it is not a comprehensive diagnostic exam. If any serious health problems are suspected, the provider may refer you to a specialist for further testing.

  • A sports physical exam is more focused on the individual's physical fitness and ability to participate in sports or other physically demanding activities. It may include additional tests and assessments not typically performed during a regular physical exam.
